Kennesaw State Owls 2026 Team Preview | The College Football Experience (Ep. 3122)

Kennesaw State 2026 preview and Conference USA win total breakdown

Kennesaw State 2026 Preview

The College Football Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its 138 college football team preview series with the Kennesaw State Owls 2026 Season Preview. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & Cannabis Capper (@CannabisCapper) break down the 2026 Kennesaw State Owls roster and what to expect in Conference USA this season. Can Jerry Mack follow up a 10-4 debut and a Conference USA title in year two? Was that championship run the best first-year coaching job in the country?

Can the Owls survive a near-total roster overhaul on offense after losing both 2025 quarterbacks? Is projected starter Rickie Collins, the LSU-to-Syracuse-to-Kennesaw transfer, the answer even though the job is not yet officially his? Does Marc Mattioli’s retooled defense take a step forward with its wave of Power Four transfers? How does a schedule that opens against West Georgia and Georgia State before a trip to Tennessee set up? And where’s the betting value on the Kennesaw State Owls win total, Conference USA odds and College Football Playoff chances? We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.

Jerry Mack And A 10-4 Debut

This Kennesaw State 2026 preview starts with a coach who nailed the audition. Jerry Mack went 10-4 in his debut season. First, he won the Conference USA title in year one. Then the deck rated his hot seat a 1 out of 10, about as secure as it gets. Because the Owls went 6-2 in one-score games, that clutch streak carried the run. So the deck grades the program a 7 out of 10. From there, the question is whether Kennesaw State is still on the rise in 2026.

Mitch Militello’s Offense And Rickie Collins

Mitch Militello coordinates a Kennesaw State offense that has to reload. First, the unit ranked 51st nationally in total offense last season. Scoring offense sat at 75th, passing at 53rd and rushing at 66th. Then the group returns just 42 percent of its production. Because the deck hands the job to a transfer, the quarterback room points to Rickie Collins. Collins is a redshirt junior transfer from Syracuse by way of LSU. He started five games for Syracuse in 2025. From there the numbers get honest: six touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 53.6 completion percentage. Also, JaDarious Lee and Nikola Milovac anchor the returning offensive line. So Collins inherits some protection as 47 incoming commits sort out the depth.

Marc Mattioli’s Defense Needs A Turnaround

Marc Mattioli runs a Kennesaw State defense that has to tighten up. First, the unit ranked 102nd nationally in total defense a season ago. Then the rushing defense finished 115th, the weakest number on the roster. Scoring defense landed 73rd and pass defense 67th. So the run is the number Mattioli most needs to fix. Because the group returns 55 percent of its production, there is a core to build on. Marcus Patterson anchors the line. Tywon Christopher and Baron Hopson lead the linebackers, and Isaac Paul holds the secondary. From there, the staff added UCF transfer safety Tony Williams to a class that ranks 119th overall.

The Schedule, The Cowbells And The Win Total

Kennesaw State opens 2026 at home against West Georgia and Georgia State. First, the Owls hit the road at Tennessee in week three. That trip to Knoxville is the first meeting between the two programs. Then a game at Arkansas State follows before the Conference USA slate arrives. Jacksonville State visits, then Missouri State hosts the Owls on the road. From there, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Delaware, Sam Houston, FIU and Western Kentucky fill out the back half. What does a Saturday feel like at Fifth Third Bank Stadium when Owl Nation packs Hooterville? The deck sets the Kennesaw State win total at 6.5. Also, the Owls sit at plus 1000 to win Conference USA and plus 2250 to make the College Football Playoff. So the hosts weigh the over against a brutal early stretch.
