Auburn Tigers 2026 Preview
The College Football Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its 138 college football team preview series with the Auburn Tigers 2026 Season Preview. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) break down the 2026 Auburn Tigers roster and what to expect in the SEC this season. Can first-year head coach Alex Golesh turn around a program that went 5-7 and lost seven of its games by 10 points or less in 2025? And is USF transfer Byrum Brown the answer at quarterback after piling up 9,955 total yards and 92 touchdowns to 19 interceptions across 38 games?
Does offensive coordinator Joel Gordon get more out of an offense that ranked 79th nationally in total offense a year ago? Can DJ Durkin and Tim Banks keep humming a defense that finished 29th in total defense and 10th against the run in 2025? Do returning starters like running back Jeremiah Cobb, linebacker Xavier Atkins and defensive back Kaleb Harris give Auburn enough with 56 percent of the offense and 58 percent of the defense back? Can the Tigers survive an SEC slate that runs through Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Alabama in the Iron Bowl? And where’s the betting value on the Auburn Tigers win total, SEC odds and College Football Playoff chances? We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.
Alex Golesh Takes Over After A 5-7 Season
This Auburn Tigers 2026 preview opens with a new man on the sideline. Alex Golesh takes over on The Plains, and the deck rates his hot seat a 1 out of 10. First, the Tigers went 5-7 a season ago. Then the close games defined the year, because Auburn finished 1-7 in one-score contests. So Golesh inherits a roster that played tighter than its record, and the fixes start with closing games out.

Byrum Brown And An Offense Under New Management
Auburn’s offense ranked 79th nationally in total offense in 2025, with scoring at 74th and passing at 99th. Joel Gordon now runs the room as offensive coordinator. First, USF transfer Byrum Brown steps in at quarterback after a 9,955-yard, 92-touchdown career. Then the backfield leans on returning starter Jeremiah Cobb, a proven runner who anchors the ground game. Meanwhile the group brings back 56 percent of its production, so Brown inherits a familiar system. Because Golesh pulled 13 commits from USF, the portal class fits his scheme.
DJ Durkin And Tim Banks Anchor A Stout Defense
DJ Durkin and Tim Banks lead an Auburn defense that already grades among the better units in the SEC. First, the group finished 29th nationally in total defense a season ago. Then the run defense stood out at 10th in the country, the strongest number on the roster. Xavier Atkins returns at linebacker and Kaleb Harris anchors the secondary, so Durkin has veterans to build around. Because that group brings back 58 percent of its production, the continuity is real. From there, the pass defense at 90th is the one area that has to tighten up.

The Schedule, The Plains And The Win Total
Auburn opens with Baylor at a neutral site before Southern Miss comes to town. First, Florida and Vanderbilt follow early in the SEC slate. Then Tennessee, Georgia and LSU headline a brutal middle stretch. From there, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State lead into Samford and the Iron Bowl against Alabama. What does a Saturday feel like inside Jordan-Hare Stadium when the Tigers roll out for the Tiger Walk? The deck sets the Auburn win total at 6.5, with plus 4000 SEC and plus 900 Playoff odds. So the hosts weigh the over against a first-year staff and a loaded SEC draw.
