UCF Knights 2026 Team Preview | The College Football Experience (Ep. 3062)

UCF Knights 2026 preview and Big 12 win total breakdown

UCF Knights 2026 Preview

The College Football Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its 138 college football team preview series with the UCF Knights 2026 Season Preview. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) break down the 2026 UCF Knights roster and what to expect in the Big 12. Can Scott Frost climb off a 5-7 finish in year two, with his seat rated just 1 out of 10? And does JMU transfer Alonza Barnett III settle the quarterback room?

Can an offense that ranked 76th nationally take a step under coordinator Steve Cooper? Is Barnett the upgrade at quarterback the Knights needed? Does Alex Grinch build on a defense that finished 37th in total defense and 22nd against the pass? Can Waden Charles and Duane Thomas Jr. lift a receiver room that returns 61 percent of its production? UCF went 2-3 in one-score games last year, so can the Knights flip those close losses in 2026? How does a Big 12 slate from a Bethune-Cookman opener through Pitt, TCU, BYU, Baylor, Kansas and a Colorado finale break for UCF? What does a Saturday feel like at the Bounce House in Orlando? And where’s the betting value on the UCF Knights win total, Big 12 odds and College Football Playoff chances? We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.

Scott Frost And A Cold Seat In Year Two

This UCF Knights 2026 preview starts with the return of Scott Frost. First, the deck rates Frost’s hot seat just 1 out of 10. Then he opens year two of his second stint in Orlando. The Knights finished 5-7 a season ago. Also, they went 2-3 in games decided by nine points or fewer. Because of that, close losses to Kansas, Cincinnati and Houston shaped the offseason. Meanwhile, wins over Jacksonville State and Oklahoma State showed how thin the margin was. So 2026 reads like a bounce-back year in the Big 12.

Alonza Barnett III Takes Over The Offense

UCF’s offense ranked 76th in total offense and 90th in scoring in 2025. So coordinator Steve Cooper needs more from the group. First, James Madison transfer Alonza Barnett III steps in at quarterback. He arrives with 27 career starts and a 58.8 completion percentage. Then he brings 6,508 total yards and 72 total touchdowns to Orlando. Also, the receiver room returns Waden Charles and Duane Thomas Jr. Because the Knights bring back 61 percent of their offensive production, the huddle has continuity. Tight end Dylan Wade and lineman Preston Cushman round out the group.

Alex Grinch And A Defense On The Rise

Alex Grinch runs the UCF defense in 2026. First, the unit finished 37th in total defense and 22nd against the pass. Then the rushing defense ranked 72nd, the number Grinch most wants to fix. Also, the group returns 60 percent of its production. RJ Jackson Jr. anchors the front and Lewis Carter leads the linebackers. Meanwhile, Jayden Bellamy, Demari Henderson and Braeden Marshall return in the secondary. Because that core is intact, Grinch has the pieces to climb the Big 12.

The Big 12 Schedule, The Bounce House And The Win Total

UCF opens against Bethune-Cookman before the Big 12 grind begins. First, Pitt, Georgia State, TCU, Houston and Oklahoma State fill the early slate. Then BYU, Baylor and Kansas arrive in a season-defining stretch. From there, Arizona State, Iowa State and a Colorado finale close the year. Meanwhile, home dates bring the noise back to the Bounce House in Orlando. The deck sets the UCF win total at 5.5. Also, the Knights sit at plus 6200 to win the Big 12. Plus 3000 puts them in the College Football Playoff picture. So the hosts weigh the over against a brutal draw.
