One Futures Bet A Day For NFL Countdown: James Conner Rushing Touchdowns
James Conner HIGHER than 5.5 Rushing Touchdowns (Underdog Fantasy)
Today’s NFL Futures bet is on Underdog Fantasy and involves Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner. His rushing touchdowns are set at 5.5. This is an interesting number as it feels very low for a talented running back. He hasn’t had under 5.5 rushing touchdowns since 2019.
This offseason, the Arizona Cardinals drafted Trey Benson. While Benson is a talented young back, I don’t foresee him completely replacing James Conner. Conner has been with Arizona since 2921 and has run the ball 593 times for the team. Last year, he had a career-best 1,040 yards, averaging five yards a carry.
Conner’s history
Two years in a row, Conner has run for seven touchdowns. In 2021, his first year with the Cardinals, he ran for a career-best fifteen touchdowns. Despite some injuries off and on in his career, he has remained highly productive. Last year was his second-highest rush attempts. The first was back in 2018 when he carried the ball 215 times for the Steelers.
This offense may pass the ball more with Kyler Murray being healthy. However, they aren’t going to pass every play. They also should be able to reach the red zone more often now that Murray will be playing the full season. They added offensive weapons like Marvin Harrison, and returning tight end Trey McBride is also becoming one of the better tight ends in the game. Conner higher than 5.5 rushing touchdowns feels like an easy play.
