One Futures Bet A Day For NFL Countdown: AFC Number 1 Seed

To Be the AFC Number 1 Seed: Kansas City Cheifs (+390 on FanDuel)

Today’s futures bet is on the number one seed in the AFC. There are a couple of different teams you could roll with; however, at the end of the day, there’s one team that is hard to fade. You could bet the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl (+500) or the AFC Championship (+375). However, my favorite way to bet the Chiefs futures bets is to take them to get the number one seed at +390.

Last year, the AFC’s number one seed went to the Ravens, who finished with a 13-4 record. I absolutely think they’re going to be good and win their division again, but 13-4 will be hard to repeat, especially with Joe Burrow returning and those Bengals games not being as easy.

To me, they feel like the biggest threat to the Chiefs obtaining the number one seed. However, let’s take a look at a couple of other teams before we make a case for the Chiefs.

The AFC South was won last year with a 10-7 record. The Texans, Jaguars, and Colts were all competitive and traded spots at the top of the division. I think that continues as they beat each other up and wear each other down, with 10-7 being their ceiling. Then there’s the AFC East, which has two teams that finished with the same record as the Chiefs last year at 11-6.

The Bills and Dolphins should both remain good, although the Bills have some questions at wide receiver, and the Dolphins have some questions on defense. I also know there’s a big push this year for the Jets, however, I personally feel like Rodgers is washed and they have a ceiling of a nine or ten win team.

Can They Be Stopped?

That brings us to the Chiefs. You all heard the rumblings last year, right? The Chiefs weren’t as good. The offense didn’t look as explosive. Mahomes isn’t throwing the ball down the field as much. The defense is carrying them. We all heard these things throughout the season, and yet they still finished with an 11-6 record.

The only defense that held teams to fewer points in the AFC was the Ravens, who lost one of their biggest defensive pieces, Patrick Queen. Yes, seven teams in the AFC scored more points than the Chiefs. However, this offense is set up for something different.

There has already been talk that Patrick Mahomes has received some grief about not throwing the ball down the field as much. That shouldn’t be a problem after bringing in burners Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy. The middle of the field should also be opened up for Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice.

This team may throw for more passes than any team has in the history of the NFL, and I see them getting back to dominating on offense. The defense should also be just as good.

They open up with tough games against the Ravens and Bengals, both of which are in Kansas City. They then play the Falcons, Chargers, and Saints.

If they can win those first home games, they should jump out to a 5-0 start. They will then have a tough road test against the 49ers before games against the Raiders, Bucs, and Broncos.

They close the season by playing the Browns, Texans, Steelers, and Broncos. Are some of those games tough? Yes. Do I think they will be in every single game? Also yes. That’s why I like them to finish with the best AFC record, and you can get that at +390 on FanDuel, which feels like great value.
