One Futures Bet A Day For NFL Countdown: Tampa Bay Bucs Win Total

Tampa Bay Bucs Over 7.5 Wins (-150 on DraftKings)

Today’s NFL Futures bet is a little bit juiced. However, as the Nascar Gambling Podcast cohost Cody Zeeb says, you only pay the juice if you lose. Tampa Bay is coming off of a really good season that saw them win the division, make the playoffs, and even win some playoff games. In 2023, the Bucs won nine games.

Baker Mayfield played the best football we’ve seen from him for the entire season. He returns under an extended contract that rewarded him for his stellar play. They also return his main weapons: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rachaad White, and Cade Otton. They also added some help in wide receiver Jalen McMillan and running back Bucky Irving.

Can Tampa Bay Continue Last Year’s Success?

The Bucs’ offensive line should also be in top form. They started their draft with a new offensive lineman in Graham Barton. They also added guard Elijah Klein later on the sixth. The Bucs added edge rusher Chris Braswell in the draft with their second-round pick. In the free agency, they added offensive lineman Ben Bredeson, a couple of cornerbacks, and outside linebacker Randy Gregory.

With the same returning cast and little changes, the Bucs’ win total drops a game and a half over where they finished. However, they should remain competitive again in the NFC South.

Their schedule has them in games against the Commanders, Broncos, Giants, and Chargers and two games each against the Panthers and the Saints.

That’s eight very winnable games right there. They have the 11th easiest schedule this year, and the implied line for games shows them winning 8.15 games. That doesn’t give too much room for error against their 7.5-game win total.

However, this feels like a team that will remain as competitive as last year. Last year, their strength of schedule was right in the middle of the league at 16th-easiest.

The Bucs should be clicking on all cylinders again. We’ll easily see them cover this win total and once again make a push into the playoffs.
