One Futures Bet A Day For NFL Countdown: Aaron Rodgers Passing Touchdowns

Aaron Rodgers Lower Than 27.5 Passing Touchdowns (Underdog Fantasy)

If you read yesterday’s NFL futures bet and heard my admission that I was a Bears fan, you may think this bet is just out of spite. You can think that, but it’s not. You can find this on multiple books and sites. I’ve been wrapping it up into some Underdog Fantasy picks since they have it at one touchdown higher than books like Draft Kings do. Take the discount and hit Aaron Rodgers lower than 27.5 passing touchdowns.

Rodgers Health

Before you blame me for having Bears’ bias I’m not saying Rodgers is a terrible quarterback by any means. However, he is a year older and coming off an Achilles injury. We have yet to see if he can stay healthy, given that he only lasted a little over 40 seconds last year. The Jets are cautious enough they aren’t even letting him practice in rainy weather.

We haven’t been able to see how he works with these receivers or in this offense. Speaking of this offense, yes they have a very talented young receiver in Garrett Wilson. Past that it feels like a lot of question marks at receiver.

Their WR2, Mike Williams has also struggled with staying healthy and after that it’s a really weird mix of veterans like Allen Lazard and young blood like Malachi Corley. This team is also set up to run the ball often.

I also think we tend to romanticize Rodgers’ early playing years. Back then, he went over this number eight of nine times. However, since 2017, he’s only hit this number twice. That was back-to-back years in 2020 and 2021 when the Packers offense, Rodgers, and Davante Adams were really humming.

Even his last year in Green Bay with a bunch of young talented receivers, Rodgers maxed out at 26. This isn’t the Rodgers of old, it’s the old Rodgers.
