Mississippi State 2026 Preview
The College Football Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its 138 college football team preview series with the Mississippi State Bulldogs 2026 Season Preview. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) break down the 2026 Mississippi State Bulldogs roster and what to expect in the SEC this season. Can Jeff Lebby escape an 8-out-of-10 coaching hot seat after a 7-18 start in Starkville? And is sophomore Kamario Taylor the answer at quarterback after a 783-yard, 11-touchdown audition behind center in 2025?
Can an offense that ranked 56th nationally take a leap under Lebby’s play-calling now that Taylor is the clear option at quarterback? Does Zach Arnett’s defense bounce back after finishing 107th in total defense and 117th against the run a season ago? Can Anthony Evans III, Canon Boone and a supporting cast that returns just 44 percent of its production take a step forward? What does a Saturday feel like at Davis Wade Stadium when the cowbells start ringing in Stark Vegas? Can Mississippi State survive a brutal stretch against Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas before an Egg Bowl trip to Ole Miss closes the year? And where’s the betting value on the Mississippi State Bulldogs win total, SEC odds and College Football Playoff chances? We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.
Lebby On The Hot Seat In Year Three
This Mississippi State 2026 preview starts with a coach on the hot seat. Jeff Lebby enters year three carrying a 7-18 record in Starkville. So the deck rates his seat an 8 out of 10, one of the hottest marks in the SEC. First, Mississippi State finished 5-8 a season ago. Then two of those three one-score losses stung the most, including a 45-38 defeat to Texas and a 41-34 loss to Tennessee. Because of that stretch, 2026 reads like a referendum season for Lebby.

Kamario Taylor And An Offense Looking To Climb
Mississippi State’s offense ranked 56th nationally in 2025, with scoring offense sitting at 42nd. Lebby calls the plays himself as offensive coordinator, so the system carries over into year three. First, sophomore Kamario Taylor takes over after throwing for 783 total yards and 11 touchdowns across 10 games as a backup last season. Then the receiver room builds around returning starter Anthony Evans III. Canon Boone also returns up front to anchor the line. Meanwhile the group returns just 44 percent of its production, so Taylor inherits a young cast around him.
Zach Arnett’s Defense Needs A Turnaround
Zach Arnett is back running the Mississippi State defense after a stint as head coach in 2023. First, the unit ranked 107th nationally in total defense a season ago. Then the rushing defense finished 117th, the weakest number on the roster. Kalvin Dinkins and Trevion Williams return up front, and Zakari Tillman anchors the linebackers. Because that group is largely intact, Arnett has pieces to work with, but the production has to improve fast in the SEC.

The Schedule, The Cowbells And The Win Total
Mississippi State opens at home against ULM before a road trip to Minnesota. First, South Carolina and Missouri follow before the schedule turns brutal. Then Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas arrive in a stretch that could decide Lebby’s season. From there, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Tennessee Tech lead into the Egg Bowl at Ole Miss. What does a Saturday feel like at Davis Wade Stadium when the cowbells start ringing in Stark Vegas? The deck sets the Mississippi State win total at 4.5, with the Bulldogs at plus 25000 to win the SEC and plus 3500 to make the College Football Playoff. So the hosts weigh the over against Lebby’s hot seat.
