Our 32 NFL team previews here at SGPN are cruising, and next up is the Cincinnati Bengals. Always an interesting team to predict, let’s try and do just that in this 2026 Cincinnati Bengals preview.
Cincinnati Bengals Preview
The 2025 season was one that is all too familiar for Bengals fans. Hype and expectations led into the year, before Joe Burrow injuries derailed everything. Burrow had an early-season case of turf toe and just couldn’t shake it. The team traded for Joe Flacco, who performed alright, but the team just couldn’t win games. They ended the year just 6-11, finishing third place in the AFC North and, of course, missing the playoffs.
Joe Burrow still made the Pro Bowl, but so did Shedeur Sanders, so do with that info what you will. Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown all remained stud offensive players despite the team’s struggles.
Their defense was especially atrocious. They were 30th in the league in scoring defense, allowing 28.9 points per game. 29th in passing defense, 28th in rushing defense, 32nd in yards allowed per play, and 25th in sacks. Totaling up for the 31st-worst total defensive ranking in the league.
Cincinnati Bengals Preview
Despite the bad season, Zac Taylor kept his job. He was the only AFC North Coach that returned; the Ravens, Steelers, and Browns all parted ways with their coaches. Al Golden remains the team’s defensive coordinator as well. Trey Hendrickson left, and Cam Taylor Britt left the team, big blows to the defense.
The team, however, worked hard in the offseason to improve their defense. They traded the #10 pick in the NFL Draft for the disgruntled defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II from the New York Giants. Defensive tackle Johnathan Allen was also brought in through free agency. A major boost to the middle of what was a bad defense last year. Edge Boye Mafe joined the team after winning a Super Bowl in Seattle. Safety Bryan Cook and Kyle Duggar joined defensive back Ja’Sir Taylor as more defensive additions. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Chase Brown Over 800.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Chase Brown is a proven 1,000-yard rusher already in the NFL. Every year the rumors swirl, who will the Bengals sign? Will they draft Jeremiyah Love? Every year, they stand behind their guy, and he remains the main back, no 1B to his 1A. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, and he’ll be looking for a big payday in 2027. This is one of the best offenses in football, and he is the feature back. Their defense will be better, but not elite. Requiring the offense to do more. Defenses can’t just load the box and make this team throw; that’s what they want to do. Brown is simply too electric a player, in too good of a situation, not to blow past this number if he stays healthy.
