Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview

The Hall-Of-Fame game is almost here as the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers will square off in Canton. As we prepare for the season, the 32 NFL team previews at SGPN keep rolling. The last week of July kicks off with the NFC South’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers preview up next. Can the Buccaneers bounce back from a disappointing 2025 season?

2025 ended in disappointment for the Buccaneers. After starting the year 6-2 and looking like they were easily on their way to a sixth straight playoff appearance. The crowd at Raymond James Stadium was serenading Mayfield with MVP chants. Then, the wheels fell off the ship. They went 2-7 over the last nine games of the season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield just didn’t look like himself down the stretch, and it left everyone wondering why. We got the answer in the Netflix show “Quarterbacks” season three, where he disclosed, he played through sprained MCL and PCL injuries in his knee. He had a bicep contusion on his throwing arm and a shoulder injury on his non-throwing arm. Baker is one tough son of a gun, but there’s no doubt that a number of injuries of their nature certainly slowed him down as the 2025 season dragged on.

Buccaneers Off-season Changes

Despite the injury excuse, the Buccaneers overhauled their coaching staff in the off-season. Five assistants were let go, and two others retired. Among those let go was offensive coordinator Josh Gizzard. Zac Robinson comes over from divisional rival Atlanta Falcons, who made a head coaching change in the off-season. Robinson comes from the Sean McVay coaching tree, having spent five years with the Rams prior to Atlanta. Star linebacker Lavonte David retired after the year, and long-time wide receiver Mike Evans moved on, signing with the San Francisco 49ers in free agency.

Tampa Bay didn’t spend a ton in free agency, but made some strategic signings. Linebacker Alex Anzalone came over to fill in the gap left by David. Running back Kenneth Gainwell and defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson were the other notable signees. In the NFL draft, Rueben Bain Jr was their top selection at pick No. 15. Josiah Trotter was their second-round selection at linebacker as they continue to try and beef up their defense. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Cody’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers Best Bet

Emeka Egbuka Over 825.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

We saw what Egbuka was capable of doing last season. The rookie averaged 89 receiving yards per game over the first five games of the year. He had five touchdowns in those games. Then, Baker Mayfield‘s injury struggles began, and Egbuka’s performance slowed down. He still showed that he had what it took, racking up 938 yards on the season. With Baker healthy and Mike Evans in San Francisco, Egbuka should be the main man here, with Godwin alongside him. Egbuka is going to be a superstar; take advantage of his number while it’s low.
