Kansas City Chiefs Recap 

2025 was a tough year for the Chiefs. It began as a roller coaster, starting the year 0-2 after falling to the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles. Everyone remembers Patrick Mahomes got injured and writes the season off because of that. But similar to the Colts’ collapse, there was trouble well before the injury.

At the bye in Week 10, Kansas City was just 5-4 and struggling to keep their head above water. A rare Andy Reid loss off the bye put them at 5-5. The team was just 6-7 after 14 weeks with Patrick Mahomes as the starter. In Week 15 things went from bad to worse as the face of the league tore his ACL and LCL against the Chargers in a loss. The team would lose out the rest of the year.

Kansas City Chiefs Preview 

Mahomes does appear to be on track to start for the team in Week 1, which previously seemed like an unlikely goal. Justin Fields was brought in to back Mahomes, he’d get the start Week 1 if Mahomes isn’t ready to play. There have been a lot of offseason distractions for this team. Rashee Rice popped positive for THC on a court ordered drug test as part of his probation for a high speed crash in 2024. Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The wide receiver is also still recovering from knee issues that have plagued him since that 2024 season.

Eric Bieniemy was brought back as the offensive coordinator for the team, but has not been at training camp after his wife Mia was shot in their home in the offseason. Bieniemy’s son Eilijah has been charged with the shooting of his own mother. In more major offseason news, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were married inside of Madison Square Garden this summer.

On the field, the Chiefs added Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker to the backfield, giving Patrick Mahomes his first true superstar running back to complement him. Trent McDuffie was traded to the Rams, and they immediately drafted Mansoor Delane to fill his role with their first first round pick. Travis Kelce Over 675.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Travis Kelce is old, distracted by Taylor Swift, a little out of shape, not taking it seriously. We’ve heard it all. But, Kelce is one of the best tight ends to ever play the game, and he’s got one of the best quarterbacks throwing him the ball.

Kelce cruised past this number last season and caught the ball 76 times for 851 yards. Even though the Chiefs were bad, even though Mahomes got injured. He still produced. Kelce has never gone below 800 receiving yards in a single season in his entire career since his second year. Mahomes will be less likely to run this season coming off the injury, and Kelce will benefit greatly from that.
