Las Vegas Raiders Preview
The NFL countdown continues! Football season is almost upon us. We’ve covered the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets. Our 32 team previews continue with the Las Vegas Raiders up next. It’s a new era in Vegas after selecting their quarterback of the future with the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Let’s dive in and look at this new-look Las Vegas Raiders team preview.
The Raiders made a lot of changes after a disappointing 2025. The Pete Carroll experiment was a short-lived one. The Super Bowl champion head coach went just 3-14 and was fired after a single season. Carroll has brought with him quarterback Geno Smith. Smith had a tough season and was traded back to the New York Jets. Klint Kubiak, the son of longtime NFL Coach Gary Kubiak, was hired to bring the Raiders into this new era. He comes over from the Seattle Seahawks, after winning the Super Bowl as their offense coordinator.
The team added veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency. Cousins is expected to start the year as the starter. Backing up Cousins is the #1 overall Draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza led the Hoosiers on a magical run to the school’s first-ever football National title. They added the best center in free agency in Tyler Linderbaum to anchor the center of that offensive line. They also added guard Spencer Buford. On the defensive side of the ball, they strengthened their defense with linebackers Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean.
Tom Brady continues to play a big part in the front office and will be key in helping develop Fernando Mendoza, for whenever the team is ready to vault him into the starting position. The Raiders will be an interesting team to watch this season. They are in one of the toughest divisions in all of the NFL.
The AFC West packs a punch with the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos. If Kirk Cousins has a little left in the tank, he can lead this team that’s loaded with talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball, to a decent year. Brock Bowers Over 850.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
This one is a gift from the books. Brock Bowers burst onto the scene in his rookie season in 2024, racking up 112 catches and 1,194 yards. Like his Raiders, Bowers had a bit of a down season in 2025. He only played in 12 games while battling some injuries. That led to only 64 catches for 680 yards. So, where will Bowers fall in 2026?
Easily hitting the over on this number is my answer. In both seasons, he averaged 10.6 yards or more per catch and was well on track to beat this number if he played in all 17 games. That rookie season was a combination of Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder. Last season was Geno Smith. Now, with Kirk Cousins and potentially Fernando Mendoza throwing the ball to Bowers, it is a massive upgrade. Ashton Jeanty’s abilities at running back will help open up the field for Bowers to once again break out.
