Carolina Panthers Preview

32 NFL team previews keep chugging along at SGPN! Fresh off their divisional rival, the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers are next up to represent the NFC South. There is optimism in Charlotte around this program after a playoff appearance in 2025. Let’s dive in and take a look at the 2026 Carolina Panthers preview.

After going just 5-12 in 2024 and benching #1 overall pick Bryce Young, 2025 was a huge year for the Carolina franchise. Young’s benching seemed to spark him when given another chance at the end of 2024, and he parlayed it into success in 2025. They managed a playoff berth by winning the NFC South, after going 8-9 overall on the year. They even put up a fight, losing to a loaded Los Angeles Rams team 34-31 in the Wild Card round.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Bryce Young finally looked like he could really be the quarterback of the future for this team. He passed for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns. His connection with rookie star Tetairoa McMillan was immediately clear. McMillian had 70 receptions for over 1,000 yards and won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The defense continued to improve; all around, year two under Dave Canales was a massive success for the Panthers.

In the offseason, edge Jalen Phillips was the big get for the Panthers. The former Philadelphia Eagle signed a for year 120 million contract with the team. Similarly, Carolina added linebacker Devin Lloyd to continue to strengthen the defensive unit. Defensive tackle Lee Hunter joined them in the second round of the NFL Draft. In the first round, they helped strengthen Bryce Young by taking the big Georgia Tackle Monroe Freeling.

Carolina picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option, securing him through the 2027 season. Continuing to solidify the roster, they signed Jalen Coker to a three-year extension, and are expecting running back Jonathon Brooks to finally make a splash. After being plagued by injury, the 2024 second-round pick is finally fully cleared to play. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Cody’s Carolina Panthers Best Bet

Tetairoa McMillan Over 900.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Last season, the 2025 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year sold me on his talent and upside. As a rookie, he broke out with 1,014 receiving yards. The connection between him and Bryce Young was unmistakable. Barring a massive step back from Young in 2026, this should be an easy day for McMillian. McMillian is the clear #1 option for the team. They’ve continued to build this team the right way, and seem to be on the ascent. In short,  all of that should help McMillian have another big year in 2026.
