Today’s preview takes us to the Windy City and Soldier Field. Where, at least for now, the Chicago Bears still call home. Chicago was impressive in year one of the Ben Johnson era. Can they build on that in year two? As we continue to preview all 32 NFL teams, today we’ll dive into the 2026 Chicago Bears preview.

Chicago Bears Preview

Year one of the Ben Johnson era was exactly what Chicago Bears fans hoped they would get from the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator. The Bears ended the season 11-6. In the Wild Card Round, they took down divisional rival Green Bay and then took a tough Los Angeles Rams team to overtime in the Divisional Round.

The best thing for the Chicago Bears to come out of 2025, Caleb Williams looked, as promised, like a star quarterback. In just his second year in the NFL, Williams set the Chicago Bears single-season passing yards record, nearly eclipsing the 4,000-yard mark. A mark that’s never been seen by a quarterback in a Chicago Bears uniform.

The offensive line they overhauled held up, and stars emerged across their offense, including rookie tight end Colston Loveland. Their defense was just as impressive. They were 1st in turnover differential (+22), had 33 takeaways, and only 11 giveaways, the fewest in the NFL. The one scary thing for this team: the “Cardiac Bears” won six regular-season games after trailing in the last two minutes. That could set them up for some negative regression.

Center Drew Dalman abruptly retired after the season; the Bears moved quickly to fill his spot, trading for Garrett Bradbury from the Patriots. They signed Super Bowl champion safety Coby Bryant to replace Kevin Byard. They brought in veteran linebacker Devin Bush and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore. The Bears also traded wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills. In the NFL Draft, they addressed some of the same positions by selecting safety Dillon Thieneman and center Logan Jones with their first two selections. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Caleb Williams Over 3500.5 Passing Yards (-130)

Caleb Williams arrived in 2026. Ben Johnson was all he needed to take that next step into superstardom. Williams easily crossed this mark, throwing for 3,942 total yards. As mentioned before, a Bears single-season franchise record. Getting a 4,000-yard passer for the first time in franchise history would be huge for the team, and I believe that’ll be the goal of this coaching staff.

In year two of this offense, Williams should be even more comfortable. And, we know it’s going to be a strong offense. With this supporting cast of Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet, D’Andre Swift, and one of the league’s better offensive lines, Williams is set up for success. He did it last year, and all signs point to continued progression in 2026.
