32 NFL team previews here at SGPN continue. For the second show in a row, we’re looking at the teams who faced off in the AFC Championship Game. Like the New England Patriots, the Broncos certainly weren’t favored to get there last season. Can they build on that and parlay it into another conference championship game appearance this season? It’s time for the 2026 Denver Broncos preview.

Denver Broncos Preview

The 2025 Denver Broncos secured the AFC’s #1 seed after starting the year 1-2. They caught fire, winning 13 of their last 14 games en route to the #1 seed. Denver defeated the mighty Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Game, but rejoicing about the AFC Championship berth quickly turned sour. Shortly after the victory, the News broke that their star franchise quarterback had suffered a broken ankle late in the victory. He’d miss the rest of their playoff run. Jarrett Stidham was called upon to make the start at home in the AFC Championship Game.

The second half of that game turned into a complete blizzard, with whiteout conditions so bad you could hardly see the field. That’s when the Patriots took over and stole the game from Denver. Ending the season in a huge disappointment after the run the team had. Bo Nix had an incredible season prior to the injury, fully establishing himself as the franchise quarterback going forward. Denver’s defense was also elite, allowing just 18.3 points per game; they were one of the best in the NFL.

Broncos Off-season Moves

The team put all the chips in on Nix and building around him as they made a trade for star Miami Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle. Giving up their first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and pairing Waddle up with Courtland Sutton. Making a dangerous combination of weapons for Bo Nix. The team re-signed veteran running back J.K. Dobbins and linebacker Alex Singleton.

In the NFL Draft, the team grabbed a good balance of both offense and defense. Notably, they drafted running back Jonah Coleman in the third round despite having RJ Harvey and re-signing Dobbins. They also selected two tight ends, Justin Jolly out of North Carolina State in the fifth, and Dallen Bentley of Utah in the seventh round. Cody’s Denver Broncos Best Bet

Jaylen Waddle Over 875.5 (-115)

Sean Payton didn’t trade a first-round pick for Waddle to make him a complementary piece. Early training camp reports indicate he’s being moved all over the formation, and Bo Nix has quickly developed chemistry with him. The expectation is that he’ll be a focal point of the passing game alongside Courtland Sutton. He’s gone over this number in four of his five seasons; the one he missed was 2024, when the Dolphins had struggles, and Waddle missed a few games. Even in 2023 when he only played in 14 games, he still crossed the century mark. Last year, even with Miami’s inconsistent offense, he still posted 910 yards in 16 games, clearing this line by 34.5 yards. I’m expecting big things from Waddle in Denver.
