Cleveland Browns Preview

Ever miss football so much that you’d give up a lot just to watch a Browns game right now? Yep, us too! As we continue down our path of 32 NFL team previews, the Cleveland Browns preview checks in next. They are a bit of a new (or old, depending on how you look at it) look team, with a ton of question marks. Let’s dive into this Cleveland Browns Preview.

2025 was another tough season for this Cleveland Browns franchise. They went just 5-12 overall. The Browns decided it was time for a change and fired head coach Kevin Stefanski, their two-time NFL Coach of the Year winner. Stefanski quickly picked up the same job in Atlanta with the Falcons.

The Browns turned to 60-year-old Todd Monken as their new head coach, his first time holding the position in the pros. Monken was the head coach of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles from 2013-2015. Joe Flacco started the season at quarterback, but the team gave Dillon Gabriel a shot and ended the season with Shedeur Sanders under center.

The big question this hear, Deshaun Watson, who the team has paid tons of money to but has been hurt for two years essentially. Or stick with Shedeur Sanders as the starter?

Cleveland Browns Rookies

A few rookies flashed on the offensive side of the ball with tight end Harold Fannin emerging as a reliable target and dangerous weapon. It was the same story at the running back position as rookie Quinshon Judkins burst onto the scene looking like a special talent before going down with a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in Week 16. Judkins has reportedly looked “explosive” and “confident” in camp, and should be fine for Week 1.

Cleveland defensive star Myles Garrett set the all-time single-season sack record at 23, breaking the tie between Michael Strahan and TJ Watt, who each had 22.5. That record unlocked a new achievement for Garrett and bought him a one-way ticket to the Los Angeles Rams. The Browns, who already had two first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, added a future first and a solid pass rusher in Jared Verse, along with other assets in exchange for their stud pass rusher.

In free agency, the Browns snagged guard Zion Johnson on a three year 49.5 million deal. They also acquired tackle Tytus Howard and lineman Elgton Jenkins as they try to strengthen the big men up front. In the NFL Draft, they kept with that theme, taking Utah tackle Spencer Fano with the ninth overall pick.

They went back-to-back wide receivers with KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the first and second rounds, respectively. Their off-season moves have been praised by many. In my opinion, this will be a throwaway year for the Browns. They’ll fire Todd Monken as the scapegoat and use their nicely built arsenal of future capital to hope for a quick rebuild in 2027 around a new quarterback. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Cleveland Browns Under 5.5 Wins (-110)

This one is pretty simple. As I said above, I think this will be a one-and-done for Todd Monken as the head coach. Getting your first head coaching job in the NFL at 60 is already questionable, and with a franchise as unstable as Cleveland? It spells disaster. The Browns have done a great job of hitting on some young players after trading the #2 overall pick in 2025.

They shipped Myles Garrett off for a haul, not only pick capital but an already proven solid pass rusher in Jared Verse. They have a lot to work with. Monken and the quarterback will hold them back. Shedeur might be a Hall-of-Famer, but this isn’t Boulder, pal. And if they roll with Deshaun Watson, the 30-year-old hasn’t played more than seven games in a season since 2020, and only has 19 starts over the last five years.
