NFL Week 1 DFS picks podcast

NFL Week 1 DFS Picks Recap

Sean Green (@SeanTGreen) and Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric) build their NFL Week 1 DFS picks position by position. They argue over the Eagles the whole way. Then Sean chases the Kirk Cousins double-stack that nearly won him $200K nine years ago.

NFL Week 1 DFS Picks: The First Build

People have bugged the guys about a DFS episode all summer, and Week 1 is the right spot for it. Salaries are soft before anyone has real data, and soft salaries are how you win the Milly Maker. So the quarterback debate starts the show: pay up for Jalen Hurts at $6,600 at home against Washington, or grab Kirk Cousins at $5,000 instead. The Cousins play is Sean’s, the same discount-quarterback move he rode to a near-$200K score nine years back. He doubles Cousins up with Brock Bowers at $6,400 and spends the savings everywhere else. His question for the field says it all: how many Cousins double-stacks will actually show up in the Milly Maker?

At running back the chalk is chalk for a reason. Jahmyr Gibbs at $8,000, home against the Saints, gets the volume and the matchup. Then the value swings start at receiver. Michael Wilson at $5,300 is the value swing of the show, and the guys will quote the stat line from memory: last December against the Rams, with the Cardinals as massive dogs in a 45-17 blowout, Wilson still went 11 catches, 145 yards, and two touchdowns. Tetairoa McMillan at $6,100 pairs with Bryce Young against a thin Bears secondary in a tidy $11,500 game stack. Chris Olave at $6,700 is the shootout lean if the Saints trade scores with Detroit. And DK Metcalf at $5,400 is the touchdown play, doubling as their Underdog pick at over 59.5 receiving yards.

The Eagles Debate, Lineup Two And The Defenses

The best argument of the night is the Eagles piece. Sean plans on playing a lot of DeVonta Smith in Week 1, while Ryan would play Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert at $4,100 first. Somebody’s Philadelphia stack cashes on Sunday; they just can’t agree on whose. Then build two leans on cheap quarterbacks. Malik Willis at $5,300 comes with the run-game gravity that opens seams for De’Von Achane, the one Dolphin they both want. Omarion Hampton at $6,800 and Jonathan Taylor at $7,300 carry the backfield, Jameson Williams at $6,000 brings the splash-play ceiling, and Nico Collins gets force-fed at home in a dome.

On defense it’s the Eagles at $3,200, stacked right on top of the Hurts and Barkley builds, and the Colts at $2,400 at home as the cheap turnover bet. Then the guys are off to Vegas, with Circa on Thursday and football all weekend. So get the lineups in before Sunday lock, and go back through the 32 NFL team previews if you need a refresher before the futures board closes.
