The Buffalo Bills are always a darling of the regular season, but plagued by postseason woes. They’ve made a coaching change in 2026; can that be enough to push them over the top and give Josh Allen that elusive Super Bowl appearance? The second-to-last team in our 32 NFL team previews at SGPN is the Buffalo Bills. Let’s jump in and preview their 2026 season.
Buffalo Bills Preview
It was another strong season for the Buffalo Bills. They kicked the season off with a 15-point comeback in Week 1 to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 41-40 in a barn burner of a Week 1 game. They went on to start 4-0 before a shocking upset by the New England Patriots. A key game that would help determine the division. After five consecutive division titles for the Bills, they’d finish second in the AFC East to those Patriots.
12-5 was still a strong year for the Bills. They went into Jacksonville and defeated the 13-win Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card Round. Then came a trip to Denver to face the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. The Bills had multiple chances to end the game, but in traditional Bills playoff mode, they couldn’t get the job done. Bo Nix on a broken leg led the Broncos to victory. Another promising Josh Allen season went down the drain in the playoffs.
Two days after their loss in Denver, the Bills front office decided it was time to move on from head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons as the head coach. McDermott made the playoffs in eight of those nine seasons, but his inability to deliver an AFC Championship to Buffalo with Josh Allen on the team led to his dismissal. It didn’t take long, and they didn’t go far to find McDermott’s replacement. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady was promoted to head coach. On the downside, Brady was part of many of those disappointing playoff losses. On the bright side, he knows Josh Allen, and Allen already knows Brady’s tendencies and offense.
The team traded for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears in an attempt to give Allen a big outside receiver that he sorely lacks. The team signed Bradley Chubb, Dee Alford, Lloyd Cushenberry III, and C.J. Gardner. The team focused heavily on the defensive side of the ball, selecting edge TJ Parker and cornerback Davison Igbinosun with their first two selections, both in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

The Buffalo Bills are one of the greatest regular-season teams every single year. They’ve won at least 10 games every year since 2019, and have gone over this total in five straight seasons. A coaching change leaves questions, but the familiarity should be fine. Will they win the Super Bowl? Of course not; they are the Bills. But Josh Allen continues to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and this team knows how to win in the regular season. The AFC East is still a weak division, and the Bills will cruise to another 11-win campaign before flaming out in the playoffs.
