Detroit Lions Recap
The Detroit Lions were the #1 seed in the NFC after a stellar 2024 season. After the year, offensive genius Ben Johnson took the Chicago Bears head coaching job, and defensive coordinator Aaron Glen left to become the New York Jets head coach. The offense still produced the fourth most points scored in 2025, but the defense regressed terribly. Allowing 413 points put the Lions as the 22nd-ranked team in the league.
A few injuries and a tough division were just a little too much to overcome for the 9-8 Lions. Still a respectable season, and their offense was very efficient despite the loss of Ben Johnson. Despite that, the team parted ways with John Morton. Drew Petzig was hired over from Arizona to replace Morton.
Detroit Lions Preview
Several key pieces left the Lions in the offseason. Frank Ragnow retired; Graham Glasgow and Taylor Decker were released. David Montgomery, D.J. Reader, Alex Anzalone, and Marshon Lattimore all departed the team in the offseason. The team signed center Cade Mays from Carolina to replace Ragnow at center, and added offensive tackle Larry Boom. Former Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was signed to replace David Montgomery.
On the defensive side of the ball, they added defensive back Roger McCreary, defensive end D.J. Wonum, and veteran safety Chuck Clark. They once again turned their attention to the offensive line in the Draft, selecting offensive tackle Blake Miller with their first selection. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)
Cody’s Detroit Lions Best Bet
Detroit Lions Over 10.5 Wins (-125)
This is one of the easier futures bets on the board, honestly. This team had a horrendous 2025 where everything went wrong. They missed the playoffs and finished third in the NFC North. Despite all of that, this team still won nine games. As weird as it sounds to say, this Lions franchise is a good one right now. Campbell is a great coach, Jared Goff is a solid quarterback, and they’ll immediately bounce back. Expect them to land somewhere between the nine wins of last year and the 15 of 2024, easily cashing this over.
