As preseason NFL action fires around us, the SGPN 32 NFL team previews keep rolling along. For the Green Bay Packers, as much as things stayed the same, there were a few key changes as well. Can this team make it past the Wild Card Round in 2026? It’s time to take a look at the 2026 Green Bay Packers preview.

Green Bay Packers Recap

One week before the 2025 season, the Green Bay Packers traded with the Dallas Cowboys to acquire superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. The deal looked like it pushed the Packers over the top. They kicked the season off going 5-1-1 and eventually got to 9-3-1. Then came the bad injury luck. Tucker Kraft, who was having a stellar season at tight end, went down with an ACL injury. Micah Parsons’ season was cut short with an ACL tear as well.

The wheels fell off down the stretch. After that 9-3-1 start, the Packers lost their final four games of the season to fall to 9-7-1 and second place in the NFC North to the Chicago Bears. They met the Bears in the Wild Card Round and jumped up early, leading 21-3 at halftime. But similar to their regular season, the collapse came late in the game. Chicago stormed back to defeat the Packers 31-27 and end their season. The third straight year of a one-and-done appearance in the postseason.

Green Bay Packers Preview

In the offseason, their star running back Josh Jacobs was arrested after a domestic disturbance took place at his home on the morning of May 23rd. As of now, Jacobs isn’t facing a suspension as the league lets the legal system play out. Jacobs is, however, dealing with a groin issue that is currently keeping him out. Jacobs dealt with some injury issues with his knee and thigh in 2025 as well. Romeo Doubs was not retained, as he signed a large free agency deal with the New England Patriots. Quay Walker and Kingsley Enagbare also departed in free agency. Rashan Gary was traded to the Eagles, and backup quarterback Malik Willis, who filled in at times for an injured Jordan Love, signed a deal to likely become the starter in Miami.

The team traded for Zaire Franklin, signed Javon Hargrove, and Benjamin St-Juste in free agency. They were without a first-round NFL Draft pick after the Parsons trade. With their first selection in the second round, they selected Brandon Cisse, the defensive back from South Carolina. As far as the coaching staff, Mike LeFleur stays as the head coach, and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich remains with the team. Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon joined the team as a defensive coordinator to replace the departing Jeff Hafley, who took the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)

Matthew Golden Under 600.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

The Green Bay Packers wide receiver room has been a puzzling one for many years. Romeo Doubs now moves on to the Patriots, and Dontavian Wicks has also moved on. Does that open up more opportunities for Golden? That’s certainly the hope for Packer fans. However, I’ve been dead set against Golden since before the NFL Draft. He’s another speedster that doesn’t have the skills, and he proved that in year one.

Golden caught just 29 passes on 44 targets for 361 yards. He didn’t catch a single touchdown until the playoffs. Christian Watson and Jayden Reed are still the focal points at wide receiver. Mix in Josh Jacobs and Tucker Kraft. That doesn’t leave a ton of action for Golden. He’ll continue to disappoint, and certainly won’t double his production in 2026.
