Less than 10 NFL team previews remain as we count down to the 2026 NFL season. Next up, the Super Bowl LIX Champions from just two years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles. After standing atop the league in 2024, the Eagles fell down a peg in the win column and got bounced in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs. Is 2026 a bounce-back season in Philly? Philadelphia Eagles Recap
In 2024, the Eagles went 14-3, on their way to that Super Bowl LIX Championship victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore left the team after the Super Bowl victory to take the head coaching gig for the New Orleans Saints. Moore’s departure seemed to be a big hit for the Eagles in 2026. They went from 27.2 points scored per game to just 22.3 last year.
Their defense, however, remained a strong suit. The team leaned on running the ball and letting their defense eat, and they did just that. They only allowed 19.1 points per game, good for fifth best in the league. Philadelphia was also near the top of the league in total yards allowed.

Philadelphia Eagles Preview
The biggest headline of the offseason, the AJ Brown trade. The team traded their star wide receiver to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2028 first round and 2027 fifth round NFL Draft pick. They added veteran Hollywood Brown and traded for Dontayvian Wicks from the Green Bay Packers. Then, to continue to address Brown’s absence, they traded up to pick #20, with the Dallas Cowboys of all teams. And with that first pick in the Draft, they selected wide receiver Makai Lemon. Lemon has already been battling a hamstring injury throughout training camp. In the second round, they went tight end by selecting Eli Stowers, and grabbed an offensive tackle in Markel Bell in the third round.
On the defensive side of the ball, they added Johnathan Greenard in a draft-day trade. Super Bowl champion Riq Woolen signed a one-year deal at defensive back. One-year deals were given out like candy by the Eagles front office this off-season, leaving their options open in 2027. Cody’s Philadelphia Eagles Best Bet
DeVonta Smith Over 5.5 Receiving Touchdowns (+100)
DeVonta Smith takes over as the clear-cut #1 receiving option in this Philadelphia Eagles offense. A role I personally believe he is more than ready for. AJ Brown caught seven touchdown passes in 2025 as that lead receiver in an offense that greatly struggled. Smith has hit this number in more seasons than he hasn’t. Last year, despite the Eagles’ struggles, Smith had a decent season and scored four touchdowns. But in the three previous seasons, he had at least seven touchdowns, including eight in just 13 games in 2024. Now, being set up to be the #1 option in Philadelphia, he’s ready to step up and take on that role. Hitting a number he’s already had no trouble hitting before should be easy work.
