Golden State Warriors – Best Bets 2021

2020 Golden State Warriors Review

Last year the Golden State Warriors season was derailed by a torn Achilles injury to Klay Thompson. This was a devastating blow to Thompson, who was focused on returning from a torn ACL injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. However, there was potential we saw from the young players of the Golden State Warriors. Furthermore, Stephen Curry was in MVP form last season, but the absence of Thompson was clearly missed. Once again Curry led the league in three-point shots made. Shocker right?

What’s New for 21/22

The obvious answer here is Klay Thompson.  The Splash Brothers are back for the Golden State Warriors. If both Curry and Thompson can stay healthy they can return to the form of being the best backcourt in the league. In addition, the emergence of Jordan Poole is going to be huge for the Warriors. Last season, Poole filled in nicely for the Warriors in the absence of Thompson. Furthermore, Draymond Green completes the Big Three for the Warriors.

I also love the off-season additions for the Warriors both through the draft and free agency. The Warriors see the return of Andre Iguodala, who won the finals MVP for them in 2015. In addition, in the 2021 NBA Draft the Warriors added Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. The Warriors are in an interesting spot. They return the core player who won the title in 2015 and also have a youth movement with Kuminga, Moody, and James Wiseman.

The biggest question for me remains if Wiseman will fit into the type of offense the Warriors run? Will he take the next step in his young career? The Warriors also signed Otto Porter to the roster which gives them another option to stretch the floor. The Warriors looked prime to return to the top of the Western Conference. However, will we see the Warriors make a blockbuster deal for another superstar?

Best Bet: Over 47.5 Regular Season Wins

Certainly, there are some intriguing market prices here. I am high on this Warriors team coming into this season. As I mentioned above, the return of Klay Thompson is huge. The depth that is around their Big Three is exciting and let’s see if Steve Kerr can put it together again for the Warriors. Curry may be a great bet for the MVP honors and the Splash Brothers are back!

Stephen Curry: -170 Three-Point Shots Leader

I know this bet is a “square” and I know that Klay returns for the Warriors but Curry has led the league in three-point shots made in six of the last nine seasons. Those other three seasons James Harden was the leader on a Houston Rockets team where he was the primary scorer and the only scorer on that team. This is a big year for the Warriors and I believe Curry, who is the best shooter in the world. will claim this title again.

Steve Kerr Coach of the Year +1100

Despite not making the playoffs last season, the Warriors are in a prime position to be a top-four seed in the Western Conference. That will all have to start with head coach Steve Kerr. Last season, the Warriors ended the year with 39 wins. The Warriors fell just short of winning the play-in tournament game and into the playoffs. Now, this team is healthy, they have great depth, and if Kerr can lead the Warriors to a 50+ win season, he will definitely be in that conversation.

Golden State Warriors Fantasy Preview

The Warriors start and stop with Steph Curry – there’s no secret about it. Curry led the league in points per game last season and I believe he will be right up there again this season. In addition, Curry can get the assists, rebounds, and steals for you. Let’s not sugarcoat it – Curry should be on your roster.

I am not exactly sure how the Warriors plan to utilize James Wiseman. Last season proved that Wiseman has significant development needed to play in the NBA. For this season, I do not anticipate Wiseman being a big contributor for the Warriors.

Draft: Stephen Curry

Fade: James Wiseman
