Colby carried most of the breakdown, and his read was that Miami has looked terrific but hasn’t beaten anyone who matters yet. He pointed to a soft early slate and argued that Wake Forest is much improved at quarterback, which makes three touchdowns too big a number to give on a Friday night. He also flagged that Friday and weeknight games tend to trip Mario Cristobal up, and he liked the Wake staff enough to think this stays closer than the spread suggests.
The rest of the guys leaned into the same Friday-night home-dog angle. They admitted the spot burned them recently when they backed Stanford in similar shoes, and they raised the worry that Wake could be gassed coming off a double-overtime game on a short week.
