The guys weren’t impressed with Texas Tech’s start. They pointed to the Red Raiders’ game against Oregon State, where a bad offensive pass interference call on fourth down went Texas Tech’s way, and figured Oregon State could have won without it. Both teams played Oregon State this season, and the guys noted Houston took care of the Beavers at home while Texas Tech needed that break in Corvallis, with Oregon State up late in Lubbock’s matchup.
Colby Dant said he can’t lay 7.5 with this Texas Tech team and called Houston a money line play, backing the Cougars to win outright. He pointed to Texas Tech losing two defensive standouts to the NFL and doubted those spots had been replaced, a read the rest of the guys agreed with. They also liked Houston moving the ball on the ground and staying strong on third down, and saw a one-score game where getting more than a touchdown was too much value to pass up. All three landed on Houston plus the points.
