Iowa’s offense drew the first compliment. This team now knows how to score points, was the pitch, and Colby pushed it further, saying he thinks Iowa’s offense is surprisingly better than Oklahoma’s. Then came the coaching angle. On the show, Iowa’s head coach was credited with an 8-4-1 record against the spread as a road dog since 2021, which made taking the points feel like the natural starting place.
Michigan’s recent tape took a beating. UTEP, of all opponents, was described as pushing Michigan around physically while the refs bailed them out with flag after flag. The verdict on the Michigan quarterback was blunt, and the head coach was called out of his depth, with open doubt he makes it to a second season.
Colby liked the matchup for Iowa’s defense against Michigan’s quarterback, and he wasn’t buying Michigan’s last win either. Take away the pick six, he said, and that one was headed to overtime.
The only point raised for Michigan was that it’s at home and might get some friendly calls. Nobody bit. Iowa on the money line got a mention too, and Michigan went onto the show’s hate list, to be faded every week from here on out.
