Colby started with Lopez. He got hurt in the Purdue game and couldn’t run against Miami, and Colby says he usually runs for 60 or 70 yards. There were plenty of snaps where Miami brought pressure and the lanes were open, and with a healthy Lopez, Colby thinks he really could have been a problem. As for the staff, Colby noted they’re North Dakota State guys who won nine games in their first season, and he’d argue they should have had ten.
The Louisville side of it, per Colby, is a letdown. That was Louisville’s first time beating SMU, a huge game, and now comes what looks like an easy week against a chippy Wake team. He also brought up Louisville’s habit of losing as a heavy favorite, pointing to a loss to Cal after a cross-country trip and another to UVA. He liked Wake enough to call the money line a crazy play worth a look.
Ryan found the number itself persuasive. Wake lost to Miami by 13 last week, and the spread here is about the same. Louisville then has NC State and Florida State, which he called a letdown sandwich, and he labeled Wake an obvious spot to take the dog. One of the guys added that Wake adjusted in the second half against Miami, which he read as good coaching, and that the run game looked solid.
