MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 10

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians

First Pitch – 1:10 pm EST
Progressive Field – Cleveland, OH
Broadcast – MLB TV

It might cause some nerves to see the Yankees on your NRFI play – after all they have been one of the very best offenses in baseball. However, there are two things that give me some confidence here. The first is that they are not the same offense without Aaron Judge. In the last week, they have averaged 4.33 runs per game. While that’s a respectable number, it would have them ranked 16th in the majors rather than in the top five. The second confidence builder is Parker Messick on the bump. Messick has a 2.40 ERA and is top 20 in the majors in strikeouts.

The bottom of the first features another pitcher that I have a lot of faith in. Carlos Rodon is on the hill for the Yankees and 2026 has been good to him. He’s allowed just one earned run per start in each of his last three and lowered his ERA to just 2.88. He’ll have the pleasure of facing a Cleveland offense that isn’t very good to keep that going. The Guardians rank 24th in the league in runs scored and are below average in the first inning as well.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 10: No (-TBD)

Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago White Sox

First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV

The Braves are another team who likely draw some stares when they show up in an NRFI article. They rank 4th in the majors in runs per game and have been baseball’s best team by a wide margin so far this season. Despite all of that, their first inning scoring has left a bit to be desired. They rank 15th in that category and sit right around league average. Then we add in the Davis Martin of it all for the White Sox. He’s been great – posting a top ten ERA in the majors (2.61 for 9th overall). He should be able to work through the Braves lineup the first time even if they get to him late.

The bottom of the first sees Chris Sale toeing the rubber again. I’d take him for an NRFI if he was throwing against an All-Star team at this point. He’s top five in the league in ERA (2.23) and top ten in the league in strikeouts (86). He posted a 1.69 ERA in the month of May and, if not for some of the wildest performances in MLB history, could have been the NL Pitcher of the month. The White Sox aren’t a bad hitting team either, but we’ll ride Sale.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 10: No (TBD)
