Ryan opened the segment kicking himself for not betting Georgia the week before, when he couldn’t believe how few points they were laying, and said Georgia seems to be flying under the radar. Colby went straight the other way. He called Oklahoma’s defense top five in the country and said he has no idea how good Georgia’s offense is, since in his view Arkansas and Tennessee State are both terrible. Everyone is out on the Sooners after a sloppy game against New Mexico, he said, and this is too many points.
He also leaned on history, noting Mateer went into Alabama and won last year, while admitting that one was mostly the defense. Colby wouldn’t be surprised if Oklahoma won outright, floated the money line, and expects something close to a field-goal game.
Sean took Colby’s side and gave it a sharper frame. Oklahoma has turned from an offense-first program into a defense-first one, he said, and that 14-6 slog against New Mexico was a classic sandwich spot between Michigan and Georgia. They’ll show up for this one, and Georgia hasn’t seen a defense like theirs. “Boomer Sooner” was his sign-off.
Ryan pushed back on where that defensive reputation came from, running through the Michigan, New Mexico and UTEP results, and told the other two they were crazy. Colby warned him he’d look like a fool. Ryan said he’s looked like a fool before, and took Georgia.
