Colby went first and didn’t see much in Tennessee’s résumé. The best win is over Georgia Tech, which he called a bottom-five Power Five team, and Tennessee is starting a freshman quarterback. He gave Knoxville credit as a great home environment and still landed on Texas, figuring its defense keeps getting better. Tennessee, in his words, has to show it against a decent opponent before he buys in.

Sean pushed back with the letdown question. Texas is still riding the come-from-behind win over Ohio State, even with a game in between. He ended up on Tennessee +3.5, calling it a field goal game and saying he’s still a little skeptical of Texas laying points on the road against a good SEC team. He also had backup from the chat: a Vols fan there called this the Vols’ Super Bowl.

Ryan laid the 3.5. He noted Texas has a bye before the Red River game and Tennessee has Auburn coming to town, so he doesn’t see either team looking ahead. What sold him was the Ohio State win, which he said told him more about the Texas defense than about Arch Manning, though Arch is an advantage here too. Then he reminded Sean that when Ryan lays the points, Sean should be laying them with him.
