By the time they taped, West Virginia was no longer a home underdog. The number had flipped to a small favorite, something that got checked on screen at the top of the segment, and it didn’t cool anyone off.
Oklahoma State’s first few weeks were hard to read. They lost outright to Tulsa as a massive favorite, beat Oregon as a big dog, then crushed Murray State. The Oregon win carries less weight on the show than it might on a résumé, because Oregon had looked bad in every game except Portland State. West Virginia is coming off its own celebration after winning as an 11-point underdog on a neutral field, and the fair question raised was whether the Mountaineers can get up for another one.
The answer was yes, mostly because of the matchup on the sidelines. Oklahoma State’s defensive coordinator, according to the show, has had real trouble with Rich Rod since their days in Conference USA, when he was at Sam Houston State and Rich Rod’s Jacksonville State teams got to him about every time they played.
