Sean didn’t hesitate. When Ryan asked if he was serious, he answered with the number he called his entire handicap: the Browns are 9-21 against the spread following a win since 2021. His view is that bad teams coming off a big upset win tend to lay an egg the next week, and Cleveland has nothing on the ground to lean on. Deshaun Watson has been the Browns’ leading rusher in both of their games, which Sean offered as a compliment and a warning at the same time.
Ryan’s side is really a fade. He said he is against the Panthers more than he is for the Browns, and he has seen the setup before: a popular NFC team riding high, with Bryce Young off to a fast start, walks into Cleveland laying points to a bad Browns team. He also reminded Sean that the Browns played their first two games in Florida and still haven’t had a home game, and the two agreed the Cleveland home edge shows up mostly on defense.
There’s a short week waiting for Cleveland, with a Thursday night game against the Steelers on deck, though the segment opened with doubt that a Browns team fresh off a validating win for Todd Monken is looking past anybody.
