Sean had the dome numbers ready: 34 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for Geno indoors, even counting his rough year in Las Vegas. Ryan expects him to carve up a Lions secondary that keeps losing people, and Sean noted Detroit just lost another defensive back for the season. Ryan also pointed out the Lions are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 and called them an overrated team.
The other side of the ball helps too. Both hosts rated the Jets defense top three in the league, third in yards per play per Sean, and Ryan said it has been especially good against the run. He doesn’t think much of Detroit’s offensive line right now either. Sean capped it with The Trench Report, which has this as the Jets’ fourth-biggest mismatch in the trenches. That was enough for “we have to take the points” from both of them.
The hesitation is Aaron Glenn. He gets a game against his former boss, the coach who made him a defensive coordinator, and Ryan expects him to be fired up for it. Sean’s concern was the opposite: Glenn’s record in close games, a Jets team off overtime and on the road, and a Lions team with extra rest after Thursday. It’s why Sean stopped short of the money line, and short of a lock.
