It opened with a confession. Ryan let Sean talk him onto Pittsburgh in the Patriots game last week, and he told the audience he’d do a better job of calling out a bad Steelers side. So he asked Sean straight up whether this was one. Sean said he was going Steelers again anyway. His Patriots handicap was that New England wouldn’t score on that defense, and that part held up; a defensive touchdown was the difference.
His case this week is mostly about the division. AFC North games are ugly and closer than they should be, and he said the Steelers would be an auto-fade against almost anyone except a hated rival like Cincinnati. He had them 5-2 against the spread off a loss since 2025 (Ryan’s reply: that’s a Tomlin stat). He wasn’t hiding from the offense either. Pittsburgh is putting up 3.8 yards per play, worst in the league by his numbers, and he said that scares him. He won’t be locking it.
Ryan went the other way and took the hot team. The Bengals are 2-0, Sean himself called their defense the best it’s been in years, and Ryan figures whatever the Steelers defense does to Cincinnati, the Bengals defense does worse to Pittsburgh’s offense. Final guesses: Sean 17-14, Ryan 21-9.
