Sean is playing this as if Lamar sits. He joked that Lamar won’t risk anything with another big contract coming and waits until he’s fully healthy, and Ryan agreed that Lamar doesn’t play unless he’s truly 100%. That leaves Joe Burrow against Tyler Huntley, and Sean said he’d love Cincinnati either way. He cited Burrow at 48-25 against the spread when he isn’t favored by more than a touchdown, liked the Bengals off a bye, and thinks their defensive line can win up front against a Baltimore line that has had real issues, center included. His read: get pressure on Huntley and the Ravens’ offense turns one-dimensional fast.
Ryan didn’t fully disagree. He called it one of those games that isn’t going to make sense, and his gambling instinct said to wait and see who plays quarterback. After what he called a conversation with himself, he took Baltimore at the pick anyway. Part of it is the chance that Lamar comes back, which would make the pick a bargain. The other part is a belief that Huntley can be good enough if the coaching staff goes back to attacking the edge, the thing Ryan thought the Ravens got away from in their last game.
Sean didn’t buy that the edge would be there against this Bengals team. He did leave himself a second way in: if Huntley looks likely to start and Cincinnati gets to 2.5, he’d play that too. Until then, it’s the Bengals at a pick. Who dey.
