“So he’s due not to cover.” That was Ryan Kramer’s parting shot at Jordan Love, and Sean Green would only allow that it’s one way to look at it. The Packers visit the Lions on Sunday, October 25 at 4:25 PM ET in Detroit, MI, and the Lions were 3-point favorites with a total of 54 when the guys taped on October 21. Ryan laid the three with Detroit, Sean took the Packers +3, and the whole back-and-forth is on the NFL Picks Week 7 episode.
Packers vs Lions Odds
The Detroit Lions were 3-point favorites over the Green Bay Packers with a total of 54 when the guys taped on October 21. Ryan read the money line on air as Detroit -180 and Green Bay +155.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Lions -3
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Packers +3
Ryan started with the schedule. Detroit comes off its bye, and Green Bay has a Thursday night game against the Panthers next. He read teams looking ahead to a short week at 9-3 straight up and 7-4-1 against the spread this year, then admitted it might be thin data, since those spots tend to matter more later in the season. Sean asked whether Josh Jacobs coming back was the big news. Ryan doubted a back handles his usual workload right away and pointed to Brian Branch as the return that matters.
Sean agreed Branch is a big piece but wasn’t sold on him hitting the ground running after a serious injury with no real ramp-up. He likes how Jordan Love is playing and how the Packers defense held the Cowboys in check at home. He also brought up a Lions player’s public comments about not getting an extension, an odd thing to hear on a bye week, though he conceded it isn’t something to handicap. Ryan heard it as a guy saying it’s a business. Sean’s real reason came last: Love has never failed to cover at Ford Field, and Sean thinks Green Bay is live to win outright.
Ryan is taking a leap of faith on Branch. His argument is that Detroit’s secondary has been a mess of blown coverages and people in the wrong spots, and a safety who organizes the back end in the middle of the field is worth more than his own snaps. He added that the Packers lead the league in dropped air yards, so they will give back some deep shots anyway. Selling Green Bay in a high spot and buying the Detroit offense to cook, with the Packers bad in the red zone and the Lions elite there, he laid the three.
