Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Seahawks -3
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Chiefs +3
Ryan opened on the schedule. Seattle gets a little extra rest, while Kansas City comes off a division game with the Chargers and has a trip to Denver next, a back-to-back road spot. Sean countered with Kenneth Walker, who he said felt disrespected when Seattle wouldn’t pay him after a Super Bowl MVP, and whose Kansas City teammates want him to have a big game.
Ryan’s real case was the matchup. He thinks the Seattle defense is built to stop what the Chiefs want to do on the ground with Walker, and nobody has seen this season what Kansas City looks like when the game lands on the passing offense. He also pointed to a Chiefs offensive line that could be without both tackles, with one in concussion protocol. Sean’s reply was Sam Darnold. He said he watched Darnold against the Broncos and he didn’t look comfortable in the pocket, and he expects the Kansas City pass rush to get after him while the secondary makes the Seattle receivers work.
Sean also had a trend: Patrick Mahomes as a road dog, 10-1-1 against the spread since 2017 by his count. He thinks the Chiefs deserve more credit than the market is giving them and said they shouldn’t be a dog at all. Ryan stayed with Seattle, expecting a low-scoring game, and Sean’s parting shot was to not get mad when a downfield flag keeps a Mahomes drive alive.
