College Football Picks Week 1 Part 2 Recap
Sean Green (@SeanTGreen) and Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric) are handing out college football Week 1 picks. It is Part 2 of the opening-weekend slate, loaded with best bets and predictions. They are joined by Colby Dant of The College Football Experience. Then the guys run the full board and close with their locks, teases, and parlays.
The 18-Game College Football Week 1 Picks Board
Part 1 cleared the weekday undercard, including a few games nobody outside a betting group will ever admit to watching. This is the main slate, eighteen games deep, and it opens the way every good one does, with cousin Mush firing off a four-exclamation-point text about Colby’s game selection. Point taken. Then they get to work, and the pattern shows up almost immediately. When a big favorite is laying a scary number, this table keeps reaching for the underdog and the points.
Start in Baton Rouge. Clemson is getting 10.5 at LSU, and all three of them want the points, none of them ready to trust the Tigers to cover double digits in an opener with this much noise hanging over the program. Down in Tuscaloosa it gets personal. Colby is an East Carolina guy, so he plants his flag on the Pirates plus the 27.5 against Alabama, and Kramer happily rides shotgun. When your guest is willing to eat the better part of four touchdowns with his own alma mater, the least you can do is tail him.
The dog-and-points theme keeps rolling. Marshall +24.5 at Penn State, Boise State +24.5 at Oregon, and Western Michigan against Michigan all get the same treatment, and Colby even talks himself into Marshall’s first-half moneyline for good measure. Up at Lambeau, Wisconsin catching 20.5 from Notre Dame is the one game that actually splits the room. Colby takes the points and refuses to fall in love with it, while a host lays the Irish and dares the Badgers to hang around into the fourth quarter of a neutral-site opener.
The Locks, Dogs And Teasers
The one favorite everybody agrees on is SMU. Road chalk at -3.5 in Tallahassee on Monday night, and Sean, Ryan and Colby all lay it without a second thought. From there the locks stack up in a hurry. Louisville +6.5 and Liberty +6.5 are group plays, Clemson +10.5 carries straight over from the LSU debate, Kramer adds Auburn -7.5, Colby hammers Memphis -11.5, and Sean sneaks Cal +1.5 onto the card against UCLA. Four dogs, three favorites, and Sean reads the whole seven-pack back at the end so nobody can claim they missed it.
Then the teaser math starts flying. Marshall climbs to +30.5, Boise State to +30.5, Washington State up to +29.5, and Memphis gets pulled down to a much friendlier -5.5. There is also a Louisville, Liberty and Clemson moneyline round robin that the whole table is riding together. And yes, for the Wyoming spot, Colby shows up wearing a full Cowboy hat on camera, which tells you everything about where he stands before he even says a word.
Between picks, Colby drops a fake-ID story from a Harrisonburg bar and a genuinely unhinged history lesson about the Arkansas State and Memphis paint-bucket rivalry that has to be heard to be believed. The important part is the board, and this one is stacked with underdogs the guys believe in more than the chalk laying all those points.
