College Football Pick Of The Day (October 29th): NCAA Week 9 Spread Pick
For our College Football Week 9 pick of the day, I’m looking at the Wisconsin vs. Iowa game. Number 25 Wisconsin will be heading to a pissed-off Iowa team at Kinnick Stadium on Halloween. Iowa has owned the recent series, winning the last four while outscoring the Badgers 118-26 in that stretch.
Iowa’s defense is the story here, allowing just 14.3 points per game. Even in last week’s 13-10 loss at Minnesota, the Hawkeyes outgained the Gophers but had four turnovers. That shouldn’t repeat at home on Halloween Homecoming.
Hank Brown will be starting at quarterback. The Iowa offense won’t need to be flashy. They just need to play clean football. Kirk Ferentz’s teams have a strong recent history of responding after losses.
Wisconsin just beat USC 24-7, but the offense continues to be one-dimensional. Dual-threat quarterback Colton Joseph will be a problem. However, I have faith in this Iowa defense. Expect Iowa to control the line, limit Joseph’s big runs, and lean on field position and defense.
The Pick: Iowa -2.5
