Miami getting 5.5 points was the easiest side to back in this one, and two of the three picks landed there. Ryan Kramer was the holdout, laying Notre Dame. Miami and Notre Dame meet in Notre Dame, IN on Saturday, November 7 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET, and Notre Dame was a 5.5-point favorite with a total of 57.5 when the guys taped on November 3. Here is how it played out on the College Football Picks Week 10 episode.
Miami vs Notre Dame Odds
Notre Dame was the 5.5-point favorite over Miami, with a total of 57.5, on the show’s Week 10 picks sheet when the guys taped on November 3. Ryan read the Notre Dame money line as -215.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Notre Dame -5.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Miami +5.5
- Colby Dant (@TheColbyD): Miami +5.5
Colby went first and called it possibly the game of the year. All season he had planned to take Notre Dame in the cold, but at 5.5 he had to take the Hurricanes. He saw a 21-17 or 24-21 kind of game and settled on Miami plus the points.
The other Miami ticket came from a line that felt trappy, as if it was begging you to take undefeated Miami. That read still had Notre Dame winning, maybe 31-27, with the game going over and Miami covering. Even a 10-point Notre Dame lead late leaves Miami room for a backdoor score, and the guys did not think Miami had been an underdog all year.
The guys pointed out that Notre Dame was missing one of its leading tacklers at linebacker, plus a second player. The Notre Dame fan guest on the segment told everyone to take the over. He thought Notre Dame would win, but said whether it covers was up to the hosts. He also asked whether anyone would take Miami if Miami’s star playmaker played for Notre Dame. Colby said no.
Colby thought North Carolina facing Miami the week before may have been a blessing in disguise for Notre Dame, since it showed how to handle that playmaker. Ryan ran with it. The blueprint was out, he said, so you knock the playmaker around a little, and he laid the points with Notre Dame.
