When the guys taped on November 3, Utah was -194 on the money line against BYU at +162, a price that says the market likes the Utes, and all three of the guys agreed. It comes from the College Football Picks Week 10 episode.
BYU vs Utah Odds
Utah was a 4.5-point favorite over BYU with a total of 48.5 when the guys taped on November 3. On the money line, Utah was -194 and BYU +162, the prices Ryan read on air.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Utah -4.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Utah -4.5
- Colby Dant (@TheColbyD): Utah -4.5
Ryan’s read was that Utah is better on both sides of the ball and gets less credit than it should because people shrug off the schedule. He pointed out that the Utes keep beating the number by a wide margin, and said that is the kind of team the market can get wrong. The home field helps too.
The spread did feel a hair high for a rivalry game, and that led to a question for Colby about BYU running back LJ Martin. Colby said Martin has been out for about a month and that BYU needs him for games like this. Without him, the BYU run game goes one-dimensional and the offense turns into the Bear Bachmeier show on the ground. Ryan added that he watches Bachmeier throw and sees a lot of throws that were lucky not to end in disaster.
The guys also noted that both teams rank in the top 10 nationally in adjusted EPA per play and that BYU has won three in a row. Colby liked Utah, and Ryan closed it out by saying to lay the points.
