Nevada catching 9.5 points when the guys taped on November 3 was the first thing said about New Mexico vs Nevada, which kicks off Friday, November 6 at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET in Reno, NV. The number they played was Nevada +9.5. Here is how it went on the College Football Picks Week 10 episode.
New Mexico vs Nevada Odds
New Mexico was a 9.5-point favorite with a total of 37.5 when the guys taped on November 3. On air they read the money lines as New Mexico at minus 385 and Nevada at plus 310.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Nevada +9.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Nevada +9.5
- Colby Dant (@TheColbyD): Nevada +9.5
All three took the points, and the home dog was the draw. The elevation handicap does not really apply with the Lobos going up to Reno, the Nevada side said, and with a total this low the points go a long way. One of the guys called it Nevada’s Super Bowl and pointed to a good third-down defense.
The guys brought up the obvious knock on Nevada, a 27-0 loss to UCLA, and moved past it, since UCLA is playing good ball. There was respect for what Jason Eck is doing at New Mexico, but the Nevada side’s point was that the Lobos like to win ugly, and running it up on the road at altitude was hard to picture.
Colby leaned on the schedule and the history. This is New Mexico’s third road game in four weeks, and the last of that run. New Mexico had a breakthrough first year under Eck but needed a last-second play to beat Nevada 24-22 a year ago. Colby said the coaches know each other well from the Big Sky. He was on the points all day and thought the money line was live. Ryan summed up his side in a sentence: the dogs are barking.
