The guys built the case around the trip. San Diego State gets James Madison at a 10 PM ET kickoff, a cross-country haul for an East Coast team, and Colby kept coming back to it as a mileage play, the kind of body-clock spot he said shows up in the ACC and Big Ten every year. The guys brought up last week’s Arkansas trip to Utah as the cautionary version of that.
They also trust the San Diego State defense. Colby said it stood out to him last week and that this is a group that keeps games close and hangs around. On the other side, the guys warned against reading too much into James Madison’s box scores. The guys noted JMU is 2-0 and hung a big number in one of the wins, but as Colby put it, Wagner is Wagner, and he did not think the Liberty win looked as good as the final made it seem.
Both quarterbacks looked iffy to Colby, which pushed him further toward laying the points with the home team. That was the whole room, and they landed unanimous on San Diego State -2.5.
