Michigan State travels to South Bend to face Notre Dame on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 PM ET at Notre Dame Stadium, with the Irish favored by 29.5 and the total set at 52.5. The guys broke this one down on the College Football Picks Week 3 episode, and it turned into one of the night’s real disagreements.
Michigan State vs Notre Dame Odds
Notre Dame is laying 29.5 at home over Michigan State, and the current total sits at 52.5. Sean quoted the Spartans side right at that number, a +29.5 dog, and no host put out a moneyline.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Notre Dame -29.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Michigan State +29.5
- Colby Dant (@thecolbyd): Michigan State +29.5
Two of the guys are on the dog and one is laying it. Sean and Colby both took Michigan State +29.5, while Ryan sided with Notre Dame -29.5.
Sean’s case was about the number. He called nearly 30 points too many to lay against a dog whose coach, as he put it, has already won in that stadium before. Colby was on Michigan State the whole way, pointing to the Spartans defense and its coordinator and arguing the spread was simply too big. He still expected Notre Dame to win the game outright, just not by that margin, figuring the Irish offense looks a touch short of the very top teams while Sparty hangs around.
Ryan wasn’t moved. He framed it as handicap the handicapper, arguing Colby was always going to back the Spartans and never gave a real reason beyond the defense, so his answer was to lay all of the points with Notre Dame. The guys also had fun with the extras in this one, riffing on the Battle for the Megaphone trophy and the personal connections on the Michigan State side, including a former Notre Dame assistant and a receiver who both landed with the Spartans.
