Two-thirds of the room landed on Florida. The Gators backers pointed to where Florida’s roster is right now, arguing the skill positions largely returned and the team is further along than Auburn, which took on a lot of turnover under a new staff. They liked the offensive coaching edge and framed the trip as a revenge spot for the Florida players who lost to that South Florida group a season ago, even in what they called one of the tougher road environments in the SEC.
Ryan went the other way and took Auburn plus the points as the home dog. He was skeptical of chasing Florida after a couple of lopsided wins and called this a pros-versus-joes game, with the public sitting on the Gators. He wanted the home team getting the small number and stuck with Auburn.
