College Baseball Picks May 3rd
All College Baseball Bets Are To Win 1 Unit
7:00 PM +114 Indiana at Nebraska -145
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Indiana: Ty Bothwell Grad LHP (6-2, 5.46 ERA, 62 K, 19 BB, 61 IP, 3.51 SIERA)
Nebraska: Brett Sears SR RHP (6-0, 2.18 ERA, 77 K, 15 BB, 78.1 IP, 2.91 SIERA)
Nebraska’s Brett Sears looks to be the favorite to win Big Ten Pitcher of the Year. At Haymarket Park, the RHP has allowed just 10 earned runs this season. Also, the Cornhuskers are 14-5 at home this year. I expect Sears to rack up a good chunk of innings in his start. After he exits, Nebraska will turn to one of the best bullpens in the conference with just a 4.27 weekend ERA.
-145 Nebraska ML (DraftKings)
7:00 PM -140 Iowa at Illinois +110
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Iowa: Cade Obermueller SO LHP: 3-2, 3.75 ERA, 56 K, 33 BB, 48 IP, 4.00 SIERA
Illinois: Jack Crowder SR RHP: 5-1, 5.07 ERA, 58 K, 31 BB, 65.2 IP, 4.44 SIERA
At face value, Iowa’s Friday Night Starter Cade Obermueller’s line looks good. However, he has missed two straight weeks due to an undisclosed injury. Plus, when Obermueller pitches on the road, he has a 7.18 ERA.
It will be a tough task for the sophomore lefty as he faces the 1st place team in the Big Ten, Illinois. The Fighting Illini are 21-4 at Illinois Field this season, and Iowa is just 8-11 in true road games. Offensively, ILL also has a slight edge with a .942 Team OPS and 123 wRC+ compared to Iowa’s .867 and 111, respectively.
