Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 322
UFC Middleweight Fight: Roman Kopylov vs Gregory Rodrigues
Start Time: Saturday (11/15) 6:00pm EST (ESPN+)
UFC 322 is filled with banger after banger, but that also means we have some really tightly contested fights. That can make it hard to find tons of value out there. Luckily for us, there is one prelim that I love in terms of where the books have it lined.
“Robocop” Rodrigues has consistently been one of the more entertaining fighters to watch. That’s because of his ability to take a punch and keep on moving forward. That’s part of what I like about him in this fight. He should be able to deal with what Kopylov dishes out and then keep on pushing to make this a dirty fight. It’s that kind of fight that Kopylov doesn’t particularly love.
In addition to that, I also think Rodrigues can dig deep to the grappling if he needs it. Kopylov is 6-1 in fights where he doesn’t surrender a takedown. Meanwhile, he is 0-3 in fights where he does. Some of that is bing beat in the grappling, but some is also fearing the grappling to a point where his striking suffers.
Rodrigues should be able to demonstrate the more well-rounded game here and pick up a very reasonable moneyline.
