Colby went first, since he put the game on the card, and he called it a big one. By his read, UTSA is alive for the playoff if it wins out, and its only loss would be at Texas. Florida Atlantic, he said, could even reach the conference title game with a win. His angle was the schedule. North Texas is on deck for UTSA, which makes the trip to Boca a hiccup spot. He took the Owls, said it could be a field goal game, and said Florida Atlantic is live on the money line.
The UTSA side saw the case and still laid the points. Florida Atlantic cannot stop the run, but the bye was the bigger factor on that side. UTSA had two weeks to scheme for this defense, and it is hard to look ahead coming off a bye. The one thing to watch was turnovers, since the guys noted Florida Atlantic has had four return touchdowns.
Ryan took the home dog and turned to the weather. He said it could be a thermometer game, with highs in the 80s, 100% humidity and a feels-like in the mid 90s. He asked whether a team from dry heat would be ready. That got waved off. San Antonio is plenty hot, the reply went, and Texas has humidity too. Ryan held that a team from somewhere less humid is not ready for it at night.
