Ryan opened by worrying out loud that one of the other two would get trapped by the home dog. Sean bit anyway. His case: high elevation, BYU getting points at home, and a coach Sean put at 10-6 ATS as a home dog during his time there. He admitted BYU has covered every game and might be due for a miss, but said he can’t lay 10.5 with this Notre Dame team in a hostile building, pointing to the massive number the Irish failed to come close to against UNC. To Sean this is a circle-the-wagons spot, and he doesn’t see Bear Bachmeier as a guy who gets blown out, given the way he plays.

Colby went the other way. He said he wasn’t going to fade the Mark Bavaro talk that opened the segment (Ryan just got a Bavaro bobblehead, and Bavaro went to Notre Dame), but the real reason is the matchup. Colby thinks BYU has become too one-dimensional by running Bachmeier so much, and that the way Notre Dame plays defense lines up badly for what BYU wants to do.

Ryan called the Irish lock material and predicted he’d be asleep on the couch once Notre Dame got up 17 in the second quarter. Colby expects the BYU defense to hang around for a while before the offense runs out of answers, and he tacked on the under 46.5 with a 20-7 Notre Dame final in mind. Sean pushed the night-game crowd angle; Ryan’s reply was that the sun won’t be all the way down until halftime.
