The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for May 2

Well, degens. It had been a little while, but on Wednesday night, we cashed an Insured option entry. And for those keeping track at home, throughout the playoffs, our tailers have cashed for about 3-4x profits. Last night’s entry felt like a banger, too, because our first two picks got home inside 6 minutes in the first period. Alas, it wasn’t to be, and we’re moving on to Thursday night. Since we have just one game, we’re going to get in the kitchen and put together a two-pack snack for you guys. Here are my two best NHL Underdog Fantasy Picks for May 2.

The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for May 2

John Tavares Higher Than 0.5 Assists (1.25x Odds)

Thursday night’s game for the Toronto Maple Leafs is for all of the marbles. It is as simple as win and get to Game 7. Or, lose and grab your golf clubs and head South.

With Auston Matthews’ status hanging in the balance, we turn our eyes to you, John Tavares. The 33-year-old Ontario native has been rather quiet this series but will be needed tonight. He had a relatively 50/50 season in terms of goals and assists, logging 29 and 36, respectively.

Tonight, I believe there is value hiding within a Tavares assist. Why? Well, for starters, he logged an apple in Game 5, so we know that it can happen. And for those asking questions, I expect Game 6 to have similar ebbs and flows to Game 5. So, let’s push our chips into the center of the table. We’re taking Leafs center John Tavares to go Higher Than 0.5 Assists in Game 6 against Boston.

Morgan Geekie Higher Than 0.5 Points (1.25x Odds)

Game 5 between the Bruins and the Leafs was an absolute meat-grinder. It provided the lowest goal total the series has seen to date. The hit count was at a level only eclipsed by Game 3 earlier in this series. The point being made here is that the veterans you may rely on may also be just a bit gassed.

So, tonight, we’re value-hunting and looking at Bruins center Morgan Geekie. He may be just a bit fresher than some of his teammates based on ice time throughout this series. However, he possesses the ability to contribute, as is evident from his two points through five games.

Oftentimes, these big-time games offer up a less likely hero or contributor, and Thursday night, we’re pegging Mr. Geekie. Let’s get nuts and press the Higher Than 0.5 Points for Morgan Geekie. We have a two-pack snack to cash in!
