Well, degens. The first two days of this week have been none too kind to our NHL Underdog entries. On Tuesday night, we went not only one for three, but the stupid Maple Leafs won and forced a Game 6. I digress, though, and it is time to shift our focus back onto Wednesday’s playoff action. If tonight’s slate were a beer, then it would be Natural Light, with just two games to pick from. Yet, there’s no time like the present to build a banger, so let’s go ahead and cash one. Here are my three best NHL Underdog Fantasy Picks for May 1.

Wyatt Johnston Higher Than 0.5 Points
The Dallas Stars are “Star”-ting to figure things out in this series against the VGK. On Wednesday night, the team heads back to home ice with the series knotted at two games apiece. Toronto native Wyatt Johnston has been a force throughout the first four games and the VGK don’t have an answer.
Johnston has four points across the four games, with three goals and one assist. It may have been hard to see this coming, though, as Wyatt didn’t really perform well against Vegas in the regular season. But, as any NHL fan knows.
It’s always about who gets hot at the right time in the post-season. So we’re going with the hot-handed Wyatt Johnston to go Higher Than 0.5 Points in Game 5 tonight.
Jack Eichel Higher Than 0.5 Points
I’ve become numb to the name Jack Eichel, as loyal readers will recall my disdain for the man. But there is simply no denying the performances that Eichel has put together through four games in this series. He’s tallied at least one point in all four games, for a total of six.
And it’s been quite the complimentary performance each night, providing a goal or an assist whenever it may be needed. If everything is bigger in Texas, then Eichel is the VGK guy you’d expect to put in a big performance on Wednesday. So, go ahead and mash that Higher Than 0.5 Points button on Jack Eichel in Game 5.
Quinton Byfield Higher Than 0.5 Points (1.1x Odds)
Our third NHL Underdog entry will suit up for the LA Kings in the nightcap on Wednesday night. It’s a must-win situation for LA the rest of the way, so we’re focusing on a guy who’s been getting it done.
21-year-old center Quinton Byfield had a solid regular season, scoring 55 points in 80 games. He has continued that success in the post-season, scoring four points in four games against Edmonton. The signs were there, though, because Byfield roasted the Oilers throughout the regular season.
At a spicy little price, it’s time we took advantage of this point-machine and use him to cash our banger. Press the Higher Than 0.5 Points on Quinton Byfield tonight in the do-or-die Game 5.
